What an incredible year for student films. The preliminary student-faculty had a tough time choosing from the nearly 100 submissions you had from across the Middle East and North Africa. Great stories of identity searching, childhood innocence and deception, and the daily battle for peace and dignity for the disabled, victims of violence, and those fighting their own demons. All the films playing are top quality, and the filmmakers and their schools should be so proud of them. We hope to see you at our brand new campus for the screenings. Come early and stay all day—snacks will be on site, as well as some surprises. And one of our sponsors, Make Up Forever, will have a booth up, ready to give advice when you need to stretch your legs. Stayed tuned for more updates, getting to know our panel of professional judges, and some of the filmmakers.
The ZUMEFF Student Faculty Preliminary Judging Team has been busy watching our 70 submissions from 12 countries. We are amazed, surprised, maybe even sometimes shocked by the different stories being told and the unprecedented outstanding quality of so many of the films.
The 12 finalist will selected and sent to the industry judges on March 25.
