Preliminary Judging Has Begun from ZUMEFF 2013

ZUMEFF 2013 has received nearly 100 submissions this year from nine countries, including the UAE, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Algeria, Iraq and Qatar.  It should be a great festival! Our student/faculty team is currently doing the first round of evaluations before the films go to our industry judges.  More on our industry judges soon.

This year’s prizes include 25,000 AED in cash divided between Best of the Best, Best Narrative, Best Documentary and Best Animation.  There will also be an additional prize:  ZUMEFF New York Film Academy Aspiring Filmmaker Award–that winner will get free classes at New York Film Academy, with its state-of-the-art equipment and top notch cinematographers, editors and sound specialist amongst the international faculty.

Zayed University will also launch its Masters in Film program in conjunction with New York Film Academy this fall.  It will be a night program, so that students can keep their day jobs.  We’ll tell you more about this shortly, too.
